Error code MSVCR120.dll

Hi

I have downloaded the “RealisticRendering” demo project and packed it as a demo game. I sent it to my friend. He cannot run it on his windows 7 pc. I have searched for the solution and have installed visual studio 2013, the error message still shows when he tried to open again.

My guess is, because my friend using the pc at work, so the pc certainly hasn’t installed any games before. So I think there is something else missing.

Please help.

Cheers

Just to clarify, you installed Visual Studio 2013 on your machine and not your friend’s right? If this is the case, your friend might just be missing the Visual Studio 2013 runtime dll’s (msvcr120.dll and some other stuff). These packages are often installed alongside certain programs like games.

If possible (since your friend is using a work computer and not a personal one), ask your friend to install the package vcredist_x86.msi from
Microsoft’s Download Site. If you compiled a 64-bit version of the demo, your friend will need to install vcredist_x64.msi instead. This is a very small download. Hope this helps

Hi tginick

Thank you for your promptly reply. This might be a hard question because my friend had installed visual stuidio 2013, x86 version, and the demo I sent to him was x86 as well.
The demo still cannot run on that computer. It runs fine on my pc btw.
Please help
