iOS app crash when UMG Background Blur visible and app pauses

Hey there,

I know there are already reports which state that the UMG blur renders black on Android and therefore it should not be used on mobile until 4.18 comes out. However, on iOS the blur rendered fine for me so I used it.

However, I now have found out that my app causes the GPU to restart (at least thats what the iOS log says) and my app to crash on an iPhone 5s and probably on more devices because Apple tested on an iPad and they said it crashed there too (I tested on an iPhone 7 and there this never happened) whenever a background blur is currently visible AND the app pauses execution (this happens for example when you make an in app purchase, when a battery-low message appears, when opening the control center or notification center or when opening the app switcher).

I ran a few tests on our end. I have not been able to reproduce this issue on our end. I have a few questions for you that will help narrow down what issue it is that you are experiencing.

Quick questions:

  1. Can you reproduce this issue in a clean project?
  2. If so, could you provide a detailed list of steps to reproduce this issue on our end?
  3. Could you provide screen shots of any settings/blueprints/widgets that may be involved with this issue?
