Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

[Feature Request] Scene Outliner, expand and collapse all folders buttons

When starting up my project all my folders are opened and expanded by default.

i think it would be nice to have them collapsed by default upon start up.

but also having a collapse and expand all buttons (or in the scene outliner view options) would be nice.

before people say "just collapse them yourself" i do have 12+ folders with atleast 40 actors in each, takes a while to scroll down and click them all.

sorry one more applicable feature, when i make a blueprint that spawns childactors in the construction script, all the child actors are listed in the scene outliner, just hoping the collapse function could collapse those also. but im not sure how that should work with expand all.

maybe an expand all folders, and expand all.

Was this still something on the radar for adding as a feature? I have 100+ folders and collapsing them one at a time is very tedious.

Have you tried this in 4.8.2? The original feature request ticket that was entered was never brought over to our new system when we switched to that last fall. However, checking this in 4.8.2 seems to indicate this was added at some point.

In my test project I add several items to a couple of folders, and when I re-open the project all the folders are collapsed regardless of what state I left them in.

Folders still default to all being open for us as of 4.8.2.

It would be a very helpful to have them default to all closed (or, even better, to remember their state between sessions).

On a related note, using the search box in the outliner also causes the open/closed status to be discarded. So if you start typing you see the results, then when you erase the text you're back to all folders being open, which is frustrating.

I can also comment that there has been no increase in functionality with regard to open/closed or collapsing folders. And on one hand I can see how this request can sound very trite, but I also know what a time sink it is working around this navigation flaw.

Can we get an update for this and perhaps a bug tracker ID for this feature request? I am working on a world that's getting larger and larger and this thing really makes it tedious. It's a small thing to add I'm sure yet it would be a tremendous help for people working with levels

yeah its annoying the folder are expanded automatically. the reason i put them in a folder is to clean up my outliner, otherwise what's the point of having folders?

I found out. Press Shift and Left Click on one of the little arrows to the left of a folder name and it collapses all the folders underneath it, then you can open it with a regular click and all the subfolders are closed

I'm in Unreal 4.20.3 and while I love shift clicking that little triangle, when I play the folders in my world outliner seem to expand randomly and when I stop the outliner jumps again, sometimes collapsing some things, expanding others. Anyone else seeing this?
