Using material noise with Landscape Grass Type?

I am unable to reliably spawn Landscape Grass Type assets using the material Noise node. I am able to spawn grass reliably via other methods, such as slope masks. Please see attached examples.

The issue seems to become more pronounced as the Scale of the noise node decreases(increases?).

What could be causing this? And if this is unavoidable, does there exist a best practice for introducing noise to grass procedurally?

  • As an aside, I’ve learned that the UV’s of landscape based systems are very important to keep in sync, and the noise node doesn’t align with either Tex-Coordinate or World Aligned UV’s, thus causing the above issues.

Have you solved this? I have the exact same issue, only with a black/white noise texture object which I use in world aligned texture node so it generates over the landscape.it doesnt remove grass accurately at all.
