Animation jitters when imported

Hello friends. I’ve had this issue for a little while now and after exhausting all other options on my own I seek aid here.

Here’s a video that should show my issue pretty well: - YouTube

My animations created in 3DS Max jitter after being imported into Unreal 4.17. Everything else about them is fine except that they jitter uncontrollably.

I created a testdude in Max to use, skinned and animated him using the Max biped system, gave him a weapon, and was in the process of prototyping things when now all my animations I bring in just start shaking like he’s on too much red bull. This wasnt always the case, but is now, for some reason.

I’ve been using a planted key on his hands, with an IK Blend of 1 on the test rifle model, so they move with the gun correctly. This has worked in every other project. I tried using test dummies connected to an animated stick (seen in the video) to see if that’d fix it, but it did not.

Attached is a picture containing my FBX export settings from Max, and animation import settings in Unreal.

Any help would be appreciated!

Fixed! Sorry about this post, I just spent ages and ages trying to get it right and eventually found and solved the issue. Alright, just for future reference, if you get an issue like mine:

  1. Select the biped+relevant bones and the mesh ONLY (this includes helpers if you need them)
(This excludes the gun and stuff, so dont select that or anything connected to it such as dummies)
  2. Export Selected
  3. Shouldn’t jitter anymore!

Sorry everyone.

Edit: And after checking the issue again on other animations, it’s still a problem. What the hell is causing this? This above fix DID help a couple of them but not all. Please assist.

Hi,
