Static mesh armor to skeletal mesh armor?

hi i want to change a static mesh armor to ue4 maniquen skeletal mesh but im new and dont know how or where to begin, i do know of the problem when attaching static mesh clothes/armor to the player and npcs and the body goes through the static meshes instead of staying wrapped in the clothes.
can someone please point me in the right direction on how to do it all or a tutorial video

To my knowledge there is no way to turn a static mesh into a skeletal mesh inside of UE4 (only the other way around), If the static mesh doesn’t need to flex you could just attach it to a bone and it will move along with that bone. otherwise you will need to open up maya, 3ds max or blender and do a process called skinning.

I am, by no means, a pro so there may be a way i am unaware of.
