Enable self blur with spiral blur node

Hi there, I am setting up a “milky glass” material on a curved surface. So far I am working with this node setup:

and I am getting fairly good results right out of the box.:

but the moment I move around the curve of the material and see it through itself, I can see the edges of the material without the blurring effect, I want:

Is there anybody, who knows if this can be achieved, or if I just hit a limitation of the engine?

looks like a limitation with the node you’re using but it could be some sort of zbuffer/depth fade issue.

you could also try splitting the glass into multiple meshes and see what that does.
