Long material compile and save times

Hi,

when I edit and save my materials it usually takes a long time. But when I look YouTube tutorials then this is isn’t a general behaviour. Other peoples don’t seems to have this problem. Ususally it takes 20-30 seconds to compile or save a material which seems to be extremly long.

Is there anything known on that topic?

My specs:

  • GPU: Nvidia GTX960
  • CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Drive: All SSDs with 500/500 OS: Win 10

Hi,

I just want to close this and leave some notes for others.

Long save times: Clean from time to time the derived data cache within the windows user folder.
Long compile times: This is a known issue with the shader compiler thread priority. There are some tools which are fixing the behaviour by setting a higher priority. Also cleaning the derived data cache helps sometimes.
