Help with lighting!

Hey guys and gals!

First time ever posting on this forum so please excuse this messy post!

Before UDK 4 I use to use Unity 3D and I must say the lighting features are a lot more dramatic.
Hopefully you’ll be able to see my attached photo to try and understand what I’m facing.

I’m using Directional Light (Static) and it looks horrible. Do you have any tips for me when it comes to lighting?!

Thanks folks!

P.S: For anyone curious, it’s an “IT” inspired map for Pennywise’s lair.

It isn’t not that bad. What Settings do you have tried?

If i do lightning, i start with the sunlight. I set up the brightness that i want and make a first build. Then, if the shadows are too much (or some Areas are to dark) i use the Skylight. I set it to 0.8 most of the time. But that depends on the Scene.

What you can do is to try, if the sphere reflection make the lightning better. For some Areas you Need such reflections spheres.

If you want to have a good feel for the light, download the particle effects demo from the launcher (it’s from Epic). in the cave there are some relly nice Areas. There you can try to copy that to get the same result, or almost the same result. The Demos from epic helped me alot.
