Audio playback stuttering and glitching in new audio mixer (4.17+18) on Mac

Hi Team Unreal!

I’m on a Macbook Pro Late 2013 (2nd Gen Quad core 2.3 i7, 16GB 1.6k DDR3, 2GB GT 750M) and

With all settings correct to the setup tutorial for the new audio engine/mixer, this is what’s happening on my Macbook Pro (Late 2013) on UE4.18 Beta 2 (also in 4.17): Glitch on Unreal Engine 4 17 4 18 New Audio Engine OSX - YouTube

As you can hear, if I play audio with the new mixer on it stutters and pops and it doesn’t with it off again. All I’m doing between the two clips is turning on the new mixer in MacEngine.ini and restarting.

I don’t know if it’s related, but I had an earlier warning regarding XCode and found I had to downgrade to 8.3.3 to get it to go away. Ironically, after looking around in 4.18 I ended up turning Metal 2 on and to try and fix the project boot-loop I ended up putting XCode 9 back on. It wasn’t part of the fix in the end, but the error’s gone. Like I said, no idea if it’ll help, but in my noobish lack of knowledge, I figured it may just be pertinent.

Thanks for your help!

Subbing. Having the same issue, late 2013/early 2014 Macbook Pro running UE 4.17.2. Gone back to CoreAudio for the time being.

Annoyingly, my project specifically requires the new features in 4.16, so I’ve gone back to that where it still gives me access to the new features, but without the glitching.

Hi,

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I tried to reproduce this using 4.18.3, but was unable to do so. Audio playing using the new mixer seems to be working without the stuttering that was evident in the video that you provided. There were some fixes for the audio mixer that went into some of the 4.18 hot fixes as mentioned here, so one of those fixes may have corrected the issue that you were experiencing. Have you had a to try again?
