How does patreon apply to the royalty fee

What I want is clarification for patreon, for example if I release a demo for a game on steam, and have a patreon that gives donaters a steam code if they pay enough money to purchase the full game when it comes out

Pure donations are royalty free. But if the “donation” gets the donator game access or in-game benefit - something that isn’t free to the general public - the “donation” is considered just regular game revenue for royalty purposes.

Hi, in the scenario that a game/application is completely free with no additional features to patrons, but say we give earlier access to patrons (e.g. all releases will always be free but patrons try it 2 weeks earlier since they’ll have direct access for feedback). Will that inquire a royalty?

I think early access constitutes “in-game benefit” so that revenue would be royalty bearing.
