Problem with wall edges (shadows)

Hi,

I’m new in Unreal and I’m learning and testing the best workflow for archviz.

I made the template in Revit and exported it to 3ds Max to create the UV Lightmaps. I used the “Lightroom: Interior Day Light” model of “Koola” as a basis for maintaining the light and lightmass settings. However, I can not resolve the wall joints, so I needed your help to resolve it.

Below I leave a video I made with the workflow.

Thanks.

Hi!

It’s definitely a lightmap issue!!

  1. 256 for those walls are small if you want to get nice and detailed shadows!
  2. If you want to stay on lower resolution lightmaps you should have a better uv layout!
  3. Get/make a checker map with the desired resolution and in your 3d editor snap your uv islands’ corners to pixels so you’ll get a proper lightmap! And this should solve your edges! /also I don’t remember if your walls intersect or snapped together but that can cause the problem too (if they intersect)/
  4. Indirect Lighting quality on 2… if you want to get nicer results go up between 4-10!
  5. Static Lighting Level Scale on 0.1… I think it’s too “high” for this scene… you don’t need tiny shadow details because you have just plain walls (so far)… it will speed up your rendertime too…

Hope this will help!
Good luck!
