Single skeletal object imported as multiple objects

alright, so i have that rig. Everything is skinned with a bone system that absolutely has only 1 root. However when i tried to import it…

I got that warning then my object were divided into 9 different objects with its own skeletal system each.

After a bit of investigation, i think it’s because i did a parenting with some controller to a bone (from all the controllers, exactly 9 of them were directly parenting a bone system. While the others are just constrain controller)

This is confusing as it looks like unreal will only accept bone object as its joint system, and any other? “Meh, it’s a different thing”, unreal says. I definitely cannot delete that control curves, though i don’t care if it got deleted after it was imported to unreal, but it’ll be definitely hard to animate from maya without those control curves (a.k.a animate straight from the bone).

Do you have any workaround or suggestions for this? Or probably this is the wrong way to rig such a vehicle in maya?

Thanks!

hah… alright… if epic wanted to fix unreal, they definitely need to do some marketing purposes so their community can be much massive. But that’s not the topic.

So, for the record.
For now i’m able to import it just for a single skeletal object, no multiple objects again.
What i did is basically not using any parenting method to any object. Now for parenting purposes, i used both point (or transform) constraint and orientation constraint to exchange the parent (i didn’t need the scale constraint). It’s rough, it’s dirty, it’s ugly, high risk of bugs, but for now it just works.

I still don’t mark this question as solved because i don’t really think this is the proper way to rig something, as i think this method is waay to crude and riskful. I don’t really like using constraint for absolutely everything since sometimes they tend to wreck the rig (by my past experiences).

(anyway, i still got that bunch of error messages about geometry no name. But i guess it’s the control curves. So i don’t care.)
