Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"

Shader .... unknown by landscape thumbnail material, please add to either AllowedShaderTypes or ExcludedShaderTypes

Hi,

I keep getting the above warning message about 8000 times whenever I cook the project, and I have been trying to find the cause for hours, but, to no avail, I still have no idea what or where the landscape thumbnail material is, or how would I add them to either AllowedShaderTypes or ExcludedShaderTypes.

The project compiles, builds, cooks, just fine, but just assume removing those warning is more important for this particular case.

Any idea how could I get rid of them? or at least what could be causing those warnings to pop up?

We have the same issue after updating to 4.18 its only 2500 Warnings in our case.

Same for us as well, after updating to 4.18, there are a lot of those warnings.

I found a solution: Update to 4.18.2 and then got to %localappdata%\UnrealEngine\Common\DerivedDataCache and delte everything in this folder. Start the editor and it will be gone.

We're aware of this issue and we already have the bug logged as JIRA UE-53126. You can track the report's status as the issue is reviewed by our development staff. Please be aware that this issue may not be prioritized or fixed soon.

Thank you for letting us know! I'd like to note that the tracked bug is related to launching on mobile devices but I observe the issue when working on a purely Win project. Just in case that helps to prioritize it better :)
