Sequencer: changing transform values in the world don't work, restricted to changing values in sequencer editor

There’s a problem with sequencer that never happened to me in previous versions (4.12 and below).

I add a sequence to the persisten level. I add a tree in the level as well. I add the tree in Sequencer and add two keys in the transform track.

Having a key selected, I move the tree in the world view, Sequencer doesn’t seem to recognize this change. Or any transform that I apply to the object in the world view.

If I change the transform values in the sequencer track, then Sequencer recognizes the change and it moves accordingly, and draws the

What this means is that I can’t animate things by adding tracks and moving them in the world viewer, which I did in 4.12 and below. Instead, I am forced to animate changing the Sequencer transform track values/curves.

This is very uncomfortable because I want to animate things in the world, using the transform tool, not by moving sliders one by one inside the sequencer window.

Why is that?

IMAGE 1
Here I move the object in the world view, and Sequencer doesn’t recognizes the change (see it doesn’t draw the “movement line” representing movement. The moment I scrub time in Sequencer, the tree defaults to the previous position.

Here I tweak the values in the transform track in Sequencer, it recognizes the change and draws the “movement line”.

I believe you’ll need to turn on AutoKey in order for the change in the world to stick.

Sequencer keyframing doesn’t operate on the selected keyframes. It might appear to work that way because the default is to snap the current time to the selected keyframes. And the current time is what the keying goes to.

Hi Max, thanks for the tip. It didn’t work like this in 4.12, that’s why I didn’t notice this. Thanks!
