Sequencer creates strange path between key frames

This is a tough one to describe so I took a screen shot of the area in question. As you can see I have two keyframes at 150 and 200 and the transform is a simple movement on one axis. What I’m trying to figure out is why sequencer makes that little bezier curve around the 175 frame mark. I know I can change the interpolation to even that out but that seems like a hack. I’ve noticed a similar thing happens when I create two keyframes with no transform changes sequencer will send the actor forward a little bit then bring it back. (I want to add a sit up animation at that point and don’t want the actor to move at all).

I mention both of these in the same question because they seem related. Chances are someone else has asked this question but I had a hard time finding an answer so apologies in advance if I’m duplicating a question.
