How to light a giant room?

I built a giant box shaped room about 10000 times larger than the default character. There are no windows to let any light from the sky in. I tried dragging different lights into the room, but they are really small, I tweaked the settings as best as I could, but I couldn’t figure out how to make them big enough.

I was planning on having only one single light, lighting this entire room. How do I do this?

You should be able to type in a number instead of using the slider and go beyond some limits. Sky light might also work, if the faces aren’t 2-dided, light will leak in and light the room.

(Sorry for late reply.)

Yes, typing in a value does indeed bypass the “limits,” that’s really weird.

So I made the walls 1-sided, but no matter how I tweak the light’s settings, I still can’t get it to work. For some reason the room is only lit before baking the lighting. But after baking it, the walls, ceiling and floor go completely black again, although some other objects in the room are lit brightly from one side. Any ideas as to what I’m missing here?

Hi!

Just an idea: emissive material with a really low number + postprocess? …or tweaking the gi multipliers?

You can also try his technique (from 5:30!):

Hope it helps!
Good luck!
