For some reason my project has a small icon next to it in VS. When I mouse over the icon it says “ignored” and I don’t get why. The project will successfully build but I can’t open the project in UE4.
I have never paid attention to that now that you mention it but I do have the same with all my projects, my guess is that some VCS plugin is adding that image.
About the problem you have not being able to open the project, I would need more info to answer why this is happening, could you tell me more about what happens when you launch the editor? Maybe share a screenshot or the Output log from VS
