Created a new project using the “VR Template”
Play in VR from the editor. Performance is very poor. I’m barely hitting 45 fps, sometimes dropping below.
If I build the project, performance is flawless with full 90 and barely taxing my GPU. But why is PIE so slow? This hasn’t been my experience in the past. PIE VR has always been reasonably close to build performance.
Same thing here! A simple enough scene that used to run just fine. Now stuttering even when just staring into a simply shaded wall with ~9 triangles visible.
This is 4.18.1
‘stat unit’ reports 22ms (shouldn’t be near that)
But other stat commands, game, cpu, scenerendering etc reports ~4ms total.
After just about 2 months with no answers, I found the issue. Nvidia’s Geforce Experience “In Game Overlay”.
Turn it off. I have no idea why it affects in-editor playback and not builds, but when I turned it off, my PIE-VR works at 90fps as expected.
