Unreal Engine 4.18 crashes after initializing is complete, but still lets me open files from the library?

Hello there! So I have read most of the material that has to do with asking questions on this site- however, if I am doing something wrong, please let me know. I would love to improve.

Anyways, so here is the rundown- I got a new laptop. I downloaded Unreal 4.18. Works like a charm. The next day, I open an Unreal file (specifically, one from 4.17, which might be part of the problem now that I think about it). The Epic Games Launcher will let me open Unreal files from the library just fine. However, if I hit “Launch Unreal Engine 4.18”, the program will finish initializing, sit there for 5 seconds, and the give me a crash notification.

Is there any reason why this could be? Let me know if you need any information about my device to help answer this question. Thank you all very much! I’m using unreal for a college course, so any help would be very highly valued!!
