Multi-Directional Realistic Sword Combat System?
First things first, I'm a brand-new Unreal Engine beginner. I don't have any experience of any sort! I wanted to go in a particular direction for creating my first game... The combat must have more of a Mount and Blade feel rather than a Skyrim/Witcher feel, get it? XD
...so what I want to learn is how to detect the direction of movement of mouse, and trigger one of the 5 attack animations according to that direction? Same system for blocks, and the enemy also can attack/block from 5 directions. And there should be a realistic stagger if we score a hit (like the AI staggers to left when we hit him on right, staggers when we get him on the head etc.) Where should I start? Any pointers? What should I learn? And I'm thinking to make it as a Multiplayer for android, so swipe left is left attack, pinch in a particular direction is blocking, etc.
And BTW all the tutorials I've seen on the Internet till now focus on more like an Elder Scrolls style combat, with Magicka and all... I just want a realistic game with Health and Stamina!
PS I would prefer learning and working with Blueprints
