Unreal engine 4.18.1 hotfix in windows 10

Greetings.

A month ago I upgraded to a new computer with the intention of returning to experiment with
using Unreal engine after a 14 month period, and thus having to use windows 10.

Today I have noticed that Unreal engine 4.18 has a hotfix update available.
When I go to the Epic launcher and select Update, I get the message

"
Your computer does not meet the following requirements to run Unreal engine.
Are you sure you want to install?

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 version 6.1(RQ-0002)

Unreal Engine will be susceptible to crashes, data loss, and corruption if
ran.
"

Does this mean Windows 10 does not have the necessary resources to run Unreal Engine
effectively and with confidence?

Or is it that Windows 10 is fine and this is just an installation glitch that overlooks
that a windows 10 machine is being used and assumes it is installing on a Windows 7 environment?

Most things so far are fine running Unreal Engine in Windows 10 (except the windows 10 wireless mouse-keyboard glitches). So, before I apply this hotfix update, I need to know with confidence that I can apply it in a Windows 10 environment.

Thanks in advance for any answer that can help here.

I recently upgraded my Windows 7 to a Windows 10 and Unreal Engine 4.18.1 downloaded and installed perfectly.

I’ll admit that it’s a bit odd to see this while on Win10:

Your computer does not meet the
following requirements to run Unreal
engine. Are you sure you want to
install? Windows 7 Service Pack 1
version 6.1(RQ-0002)

On the other hand, I’ve yet to hear UE4 refused to function properly because it was running under Win10.

If I were to judge I’d say the following is the culprit here:

Or is it that Windows 10 is fine and
this is just an installation glitch
that overlooks that a windows 10
machine is being used and assumes it
is installing on a Windows 7
environment?

OK. I will install this update and see how it goes.At least MasterV1234 has not problems. If all goes up the creek I will reinstall 4.18 if possible.

Thanks.

Oh I just realised what may caused the above message to occur. I am running Unreal engine in windows 7 compatability mode as this seems to help solve windows 10 wireless mouse stuttering problems I have in all applications. Will switch it off to be sure no problems will occur as the update has just finished… In fact project working on and editor opened much more quickly than previously and all looks fine. God that update was much less time than I thought it would take.

All I can suggest for you is to check for updates and if you have some to download, then go ahead and download and install them. After that is it still doesn’t work, just the epic games launcher, go the library and uninstall UE4. After that you can reinstall from there itself.

Hope this helps!
