The import button is grey.
BTW: Personally, I think it would be better to make the editor preferences global.

This is by design, only certain categories of the editor preferences are capable of importing settings. Only the Keyboard Shortcuts and the Automation sections are available for Imports. This is why the other sections are grayed out. There is a ticket in the works about adding a tool tip for the other sections stating that Import is not meant for those areas.

Well, could you make it so that they are? It’s really annoying having to change it all time, not just when you create a new project, but you decide to change something else, for example, I just changed the way my splines look. Now, I have go back and reedit all of my older projects to keep them up to date. I feel like this is an unnecessary pain.

As stated above this is by design as per the developers, it is not intended that all categories will be able to use the import button.
