My Builddata.uasset wont fully load, therefore I can't save my scene

I’ve had no prior issues with my scene but now that I’m baking my final lightmaps, a process that can take upwards of 10 hours I’ve noticed that I get a message when attempting to save my final baked results that I can’t save due to my builddata.uasset not being fully loaded, with my options being retry, continue or cancel.

I’ve read another post on here where the user fixed his this issue by copy/pasting an archived version of his builddata.uasset that allowed him to successfully save. My question before I attempt that is if that would get rid of my 10 hour light map bake. I’d rather not have to re-bake but if it means that I can successfully save my scene again I’d be willing to give it a try.

If anyone needs more details on my specs or what not I’d be happy to share however at the moment I’m away from my home PC (which I have not shut off since I discovered this bug for fear of losing my bake :wink: )

^ This is the window that pops up when I’m attempting to save. My Alza_EnvArtTest_BuildData.uasset file is 104,692KB in size. My main question remains, if I copy an archived version of this BuildData.uasset will it require me to rebuild lighting? what else would I expect would be missing? etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

So sorry it’s taken me so long to respond! Unfortunately I ended up just doing a build and never closing up Unreal or shutting down my PC after that build for fear that I’d have to re-bake my lighting, which was taking upwards of 9 hours or so. A big issue of mine was that my C drive was dangerously low and probably contributed to all kinds of wonkiness that Unreal didn’t like when it came to baking lightmaps. I don’t have a much better answer than that I’m afraid.

in my case i can’t even make a build because of that asset not being loaded.
how did you manage to make a successful build?
will deleting this file be ok and it will just recreate itself when i make a build?

Hmm, that’s interesting, for me I believe everything was loaded, but whatever wasn’t fully loaded prevented the save. I can’t confidently tell you if deleting that file will be okay or not I’m afraid :frowning:
