[Request] A conversion tool or decompression for UPK files to Uasset and UDK files in UMAP for giant maps and materials.

Hi all, my request is a tool that facilitates the export of assets stored in UPK packages in UDK related to the map (only static meshes, Materials and Textures) to Uassets files. Also the map files *. UDK in UMAP.

There are external tools that can do that, but not correctly and with the wrong form and no materials.

would be very useful for large maps with many assets developed in UDK, like mine (which delayed me 3 years to build and assemble a map Like a GTA Map in UDK). Would facilitate enormously the development of video games that have been previously developed in UDK (especially maps which are the protagonists like Sandbox Games) and a powerfull tool for the guys that have a great gallery of assets in UDK and would like to see those same assets in UE 4.

just wish the import of the map UDK with their assets, meshes to UE 4 with a couple of clicks (no to the method one by one with FBX).

Hi Jhosep,

Thank you for your feedback. This has already been discussed by our developers and it was decided that there will not be a conversion tool. The reason for this is simply because there is no way to make exact conversion of most of the content because the editors are becoming so different. We have plans on further altering and expanding the editor too, so the tool would have to be updated and changed constantly as well.

Marcin’s work-arounds may be your best options at this time. Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks for replying, yeah, i saw that the assets are very different, I’m glad that Rocket improve and change much more, best regards!

You can’t really export whole map from UDK to UE4. However, you can select all objects in Scene menager in UDK and export as .T3D
Now in rocket import .T3D script. You should have all needed assets imported before this process.
For assets: You can’t do it the fast way. Right click on every asset in UDK and “export to file…”, then you will need to reimport every asset and create every material again from scratch. I’m sorry.
