Grid color change

Hey all. So I was working on a very basic level design however I seem to be running into some errors. Here is my process so far.

  1. I made a model in 3DS max of a basic environment. I exported it as an FBX.
  2. I imported the FBX into an Unreal project into it’s own folder. Dragged and dropped it into the world on top of the Default floor. Rescaled to adjust as intended.
  3. I double clicked the FBX in the content viewer and went to collision > remove collision, then again to collision > auto convex collision > Accuracy and Max Hull verts maxed out. Applied, built and played.
  4. Level was working fine here, the Player was running around and colliding into the objects prebuilt into the 3DS file as was intended.
  5. I began to paint foliage on and noticed that it was only painting over the area covered by the Default floor level. I went down and scaled up the floor and moved it up closer to the surface of the FBX file model. Continued painting.
  6. Added a sky light, a directional light, and 2 spotlights. Adjusted as needed.
  7. Hit build and then hit play. Here is where the issue starts.

Edit: Update: It seems the issue was the fact that the default floor was clipping into the FBX model. Both their collision meshes were…well, colliding, hence the clipping. However, the issue still remains that I can’t seem to paint foliage onto the FBX, the foliage clips through and paints on the Default floor.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated! Also, it should be said I am a complete UE4 noob :stuck_out_tongue: IF there are obvious things that I should know, please assume that I don’t know them (because chances are, I don’t).

Thanks everyone!
