How to rotate third person camera independently from player

Now before I start, I want to make it clear that my Ue4 never came with sample content, or starter packs or tutorials or anything like that, I don’t know why. Because of this, I cant just build off of the pre-prepared thirdperson blueprint, because I never had it. I have created my own thirdperson blueprint from scratch, and want the camera to rotate around the player like every thirdperson game ever made. This is the first time I have posted a question on this site, but I spent 5 hours trying to solve this.

or someone could just post a copy of the thirdperson template, and I build off that.

I recommend you tubing third person camera. You’ll be able to see their blueprints. Also do you have a camera boom?

Also you’ll have to set up your camera controller in the edit> project settings> input settings

This pic is for the camera boom

I have a camera boom using a spring arm, if thats what you mean? But its a bit problematic. I’ll try upload some photos and a video of what I mean.

Here is what it looks like currently, I cant rotate the camera:

I’d suggest installing 4.18… it should come with all the extras… assuming you have disk space, you can have several versions of Unreal installed…

I’ve installed 4.18 now, will it be able to transfer my projects?

yes, use the Epic Launcher to convert to 418… it will automatically keep a copy of your old 417 project

Updating to 4.18 fixed it, so I guess that’s an answer.
