How do I fix? Installer is stuck on a update loop

Everytime I try to install Epic Games Installer, it gets stuck on an “Verifying Update” loop, but if I were to click on the icon it would crash.

have the same issue and could’t find a fix.sent an email and no answer for 1 week now :frowning:
Case #1508091.

What are you trying to install it on? You may not have enough room on your drive.

No my mac 500 gigabyte and only thing on it is the launcher
i only try it on my mac(i7 late 2013) because on laptop with windows 10 the performance is very awkward (i5 4 gen)
So after i instal the launcher(ver 7 - 40 migabytes ) it download an update (100 migabates) then the loop of checking for update begin. Removed it and delete the unreal folder from users download new copy install update 100 miga the the loop try this 4 times with the same result

yeah i have tons of space on my laptop, happens to me aswell

same with me

I have the same problem, don’t know how to fix it

I have the same problem in my macOS High Sierra .

I found a solution
1.Uninstall Epic Games Launcher and reinstall it
2.After you open the .dmg file, drag it onto your desktop
3. Make a new folder called “Epic Games Launcher” And make sure it’s spelled exactly that way
4. Right click on the original Epic games installer and click show package contents
5. Copy the contents and past it into the Epic Games Launcher folder that you just made
6. Delete the epic games launcher app and eject the .dmg file
7. Rename the Epic Games Launcher to “Epic Games Launcher.app”
8. Click on add and it should run normally

Thanks a lot it really worked!

I found an easier fix:

Move the installer.dmg to trash.
Close the Epic Launcher. You have about half a second until it opens again. In that half-second, EJECT the installer drive by dragging it into the trash.
Empty trash.
Open Epic Launcher from the Applications menu.

Wanted to edit my message but I don’t know how to.
Anyways a possible fix to this issue is that if you haven’t installed the launcher on your hard drive (main disk drive) you should re-install it to that hard drive.

A way to fix the update loop is that if the launcher wasn’t installed on your computer system’s drive disk thingy you should re-install it there. (The drive is like the main disk or something IDK haven’t really searched up the definition LOL)

I found this video and it is a way to download Epic without any hard drive mess or dragging it onto the desktop, or ect. Here is the link: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCzQSHpS4H0)

I recommend fallowing the video, but here are the steps anyway:

  1. Downloaded the launcher.
(I think the Mac and main version are the same but here is a link to the Mac download
    just in case [https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/download]

  2. Click on the .dmg file when it is done downloading. That window that has the Epic
Games Launcher being able to be dragged to the Application file should pop up.

  3. Drag the Epic Game Launcher to the Application file, then, click the Application file. You
need to click the Application file from within this window. The download won’t work if
you get to Applications any other way.

  4. Click on the Epic Games Launcher from here. It will open and go to the verification
process like it has before, but then it will continue and complete the download.

I am new to Mac so sorry if I didn’t call everything by their proper or common name. I hope this was helpful though!
