Poor Editor FPS / Performance 4.18 in Blueprint Graph with dual monitor setup

I’ve had this issue with two separate workstations so I wanted to post the work around I found here. Specifically, when using engine version 4.18 on a dual monitor setup with a Geforce card there is stuttering and poor frame rate and performance while in a graph based window such at the blueprint editor. The issue is compounded when hovering over items in the graph to receive a popup text window. It is detached from the game or PIE performance and only affects the editor.

As I mentioned above, I’ve fixed the problem and would like to post the solution I have discovered.

The issue on our workstations was specific to machines that had Geforce cards. We’ve discovered that having the Geforce experience’s “In-Game Overlay” enabled was the cause of the slowdown and somehow conflicting with the rendering of graph editors and causing the performance problem. Disabling the in-game overlay within the Geforce experience problem immediately resolved the performance issues on the two affected workstations that were experiencing this slowdown in the editor. Note, we only seem to be experiencing this error in version 4.18+ and it doesn’t exist when we run 4.17 or 4.16 on the same machines with the overlay enabled.

I hope in case anyone else experiences this issue this helps!

Life saver! Thank you!!!

I tried on 4.15, 4.16, 4.17 (My current version) and it happens in all of them.

Was getting 20ms-90ms on GPU.

Disabling the in-game overlay fixed it.

Absolute life saver.
I’ve been struggling with this problem since 4.15 and therefore I confirm disabling the In-Game Overlay helps. Additional window still eats ~20 frames per second but it’s a drop from about ~120 do ~100 FPS in my example.

Thank you kind sir.
