Landscape material blending problem

Hello everyone,
I’m having trouble blending multiple layers of my landscape material.
I’m basically using the same material function in three different cases to first create an auto material based on the slope of the landscape (rocks, soil and grass). This works totally fine. I then use a layer blend node to create additional layers on top of this one. What I’m trying to achieve is repurposing the rocks and soil functions as paintable layers plus an additional layer for a forest.

However, as soon as I try to paint these layers, the landscape components turn to checkers. My first thought were using too many texture samples. The material stats however show a count of 9/16. I tried using different blending options, but nothing seems to work.

I’m fairly sure I’m missing something basic. Hopefully, someone’s able to point me into the right direction.

Im having the same issue, have you solved?

Not sure if this reply is too late, but for me it worked by:

  1. Click on texture
  2. Look at Material Expression Texture Sample
  3. Under Sampler Source.
  4. Change to Shared: Warp.

For me I’m using on 3 layers so I only apply this method to one set of textures. You can try to do it for all if needed,
