today I try Elemental demo on AMD hardware (AMD FX 8350, AMD RX 480 8GB). I have here Intel + Nvidia PC (Intel Core i5 6500 + GTX 1060) and also other AMD APU HW (A10 6800K). First open project compiling (cca. 20 minutes first compiling + 2 minutes start) on FX 8350 is really bad. On slower A10 6800K is better. On Intel + Nvidia mega boost. I do not understand that. Everywhere in the world, I am promoting Unreal Engine for free in enterprises. When I want to create a project in Unreal Engine, I must report AMD only bugs. I know you have Nvidia hardware only as your CEO said: Unreal Engine | NVIDIA Developer
I know you do not have a special AMD lab for testing (or yes?). Better support would not hurt. Thank you.

I assume oyu mean shader compilation. First of all this is CPU only operation so GPUs don’t have much to say here. Hmmm i suspect 2 potential culprits, one FX 8350 are not 8 cores, each pair shares some computation circuitry so speed of it depends on application, so it might be reason why his slower brother is actully faster in this case. 2nd is ram, the lower ram you have the more applications use virtual memory the slowe PC becomes. I got Ryzen 1700X+1080Ti, it does well with code compilation but shader compilation still can take a while, i didn’t use any modern intel with UE4 to properly compare
FX 8350 are 8 threads and 4 cores with 8+8 MB cache. I have 1866 MHz CL9 RAMs Dual Channel (same test with 2133 MHz, no difference).
I tested this on clear Windows 10 and still problem.
My friends with FX 8xxx same problem also.
I have here notebook HP Probook 450 G1 with Intel Core i7-4702MQ with 1600 MHz no name HP RAMs. Slower as FX 8350 and still is shader compilation few times speeder as on AMD FX 8xxx CPUs.
This is not my problem only, look on internet. Full forums about AMD CPUs.
How many minutes you need for shader compiling with Ryzen 1700x? Intel Core i7 8700K compile Elemental demo for max. 3-5 minutes.
