"Epic Games is not yet an official PS4 Tools and Middleware licensee"

After requesting a PS4 Version of Unreal I had to sign into Sony DevNet to verify my account. After logging into DevNet and clicking the link to verify the following information was presented on the verification screen:

“Epic Games is not yet an official PS4 Tools and Middleware licensee. Any products that you receive from them are for evaluation and testing only and may not be made available for sale until they obtain a PS4 Tools and Middleware license from Sony Interactive Entertainment.”

Does this mean that Sony will not accept any games that are made with Unreal Engine?

Epic can’t speak for Sony, but there are already dozens of UE4-based games released on PS4.

I work for Epic, but can’t comment publicly on the subject. I can say that there are tons of UE4 games on PS4, and many more on the way. If you have further questions on it, I would encourage you to ask Sony.

I have seen games on the PS4 made with unreal engine logo. I wonder why it says that Unreal is not licensed, do you think Unreal let the license expire with Sony?

Ok, thank you for the reply. I have created a ticket with Sony and will see what they say. Unity and Cry Engine are both have Sony license but Unreal does not, that is strange that Sony would put that disclaimer just for Unreal Engine…
