I have been running into a lot of issues with permissions. Do you have any recommendations for how to streamline this?

In order for VS to have permissions to F5 build, I have to run the application as administrator.

This creates a problem with UE4 Editor, in that when I make changes in UE4 and click Compile, it will get stuck at “86%, Compiling C++ Code” until I close the .sln in VS. I believe this is because VS is running as Admin and UE4Editor is not.

So then I tried setting UE4 to also run as Administrator, and that caused everything from the Epic Games Launcher to the Unreal Engine to not be able to communicate with UE4Editor. They just spit out errors when trying to do anything.

I am the only user on my Windows 10 machine and I am an administrator, but for some reason I am running into endless permission issues. This isn’t unique to UE4 and VS, as this has been the case in the past with other applications. If you have any advice on how to optimize permissions in Windows 10 so that I don’t have to deal with these headaches, it would be greatly appreciated!

I am using Windows 10 Home Edition, so all the “grant super admin” solutions I’ve found online are inaccessible to me.

Okay cool thanks guys

Why do you need admin rights? My VS and Editor works without them. Just have a look that you don’t work in your program files directory.
