Why are lights not affecting one side of its x-axis?

Every single light I place, static or movable, that I place has this same issue. No matter where the light is placed in the scene, the light does not effect anything on a certain side of it’s x-axis, with the exception of ground. Even when the lights are rotated, the cutoff part does not move. The lights were working correctly before, but now this happens. I have absolutely no idea what would cause this. Please help

Sorry! I forgot the screenshot!

I’m using an NVIDIA GeForce GTX555m with driver version 337.88, the newest version.

Can you post a screenshot of your problem please? Also which gpu and driver do you have right now?

Hi LiamDev631,

Can you post what version of the engine you’re using as well?
Are you using a default light that you place in the level then only changing it to movable?
Does this affect any other versions of the light (static or stationary)?

If you are changing any settings on the light can you post a screen shot of the details panel?

One last thing, Is this only occurring in this project or any project you’re using?

Thank you!

Tim

I had this issue as well on brushes. If you use static meshes it will not happen. Brushes apparently only work well with baked lighting.

I’m using 4.2. I already said that I tried using every kind of light, and every movement mode. I also included the details panel in the screenshot, all the values are the defaults. It’s only occurring in this project, as I said it didn’t start until long after the project was created. Did you even read the question at all? I already answered all of these questions?

I thought it had something to do with that. Does this mean that eventually, all the walls in my scene will have to be replaced with static meshes?

In my personal experience, if you want dynamic lighting you want to have static meshes. Baked lighting works fine on brushes.

It is not recommended to use too many brushes in your final product(for performance reasons) so you should turn them into static meshes indeed.

Hi LiamDev631,

I did read the question and while you did include some information I wanted to cover some other areas to make sure that there was enough information for me to work with. To be clear, I was only asking for you to post the details panel if you were changing any of the settings.

Are you able to reproduce this issue in a new project at all? If so can you post the repro steps to do so?

If you can then I can start looking into this as a bug that needs to be documented. If it’s only happening in your project this makes it much more difficult to assess from our end as I do not have your specific project setup and have to try to recreate it fresh. This does not always create the same issue.

I understand that you can get frustrated but we’re all here to help.

Hi Liamdev631,

Since we’ve not heard from you in a few days I’m going to mark this as resolved for our tracking purposes. If you’re still experiencing the problem feel free to post here.

Thank you!
