Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

UE4 Snippets in VS2017?

UE4Snippets: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=EpicTeamLearningResources.UE4Snippets#overview

This extension currently does not work in VS2017, will it be working soon? It seems nobody knows it even exists.

Product Version: UE 4.18

Hi, Jahn.Justin! That extension is being prepared for use by our internal teams. It's part of our effort to improve API documentation with code snippets like the "Example Code" on this page:

http://api.unrealengine.com/INT/API/Runtime/Engine/GameFramework/AActor/GetActorLocation/index.html

The plugin provides templates for writing snippets that will be picked up by our internal API documentation generation tool from dummy projects that we don't distribute, so there's not much of a purpose for anyone outside of Epic at this time, which is why we never mentioned it. We put it up on the VS Marketplace because it's very easy to find and install from within the Visual Studio IDE, and we can push automatic updates. For what it's worth, it does work (as of about half an hour ago) with 2015 and 2017.

I should also mention that we are considering accepting community-sourced code snippets to the API (as well as writing our own), and this plugin would be useful for those who wish to contribute, but we aren't ready to roll that program out just yet, which, again, is why we've been quiet about the plugin. Thanks for asking!
