When Adding Content, Does it Automatically Expand The Size?

So clearly I’m not close to releasing any games but I have bought a few assets from the marketpalce, as well as made a few, and I wonder; If I were to “release” a game, would every single asset, whether I’ve used it or not, effect the size of the game?

So if I’ve downloaded 20 GB worth of assets from the store and added them to the project, would that automatically make the project 20 GB?

When I finally do release a game, I’d like to know how to not release a 50GB game when the story line/actual game content isn’t nearly as comparable. Also, if my game is automatically effected by the assets, is there a way to automatically remove any assets that aren’t actually being used, or is that something that has to be done manually?

I’m sure this is a real amateur question but I’m having a hard time finding any answers.

i do believe you are correct. any asset in the project will also be packed.
