How to correctly import FBX model

I would like to ask you how to correctly import a model in FBX format, because I imported one vehicle and it created a lot of files. and I don’t see that vehicle.

I see only a parts of that vehicle as you can see on this image: https://i.imgur.com/qkCWB9e.png

I know that if I import FBX I have to check “combine meshes” but as you can see (https://i.imgur.com/7ghpqOr.png), I didn’t have that option.

Is possible to combine that files to one mesh, because I don’t know how to work with that.

Uncheck Import Skeletal and you will get the Combine Meshes option. Why do you have all these skeletal meshes in your model though?

Thanks, I don’t know why there are skeletal meshes, it is not my 3D object. I downloaded it from free3d.com and What is advantage of using multiple meshes instead of one?

You need multiple meshes if you want to handle different parts independently for some reasons (e.g. you have a car and the wheels are independent meshes so you can make them turn). Otherwise, also for performance reasons, it is better to have one mesh only.

Ah okey, so I have a car, so I should have 1 mesh except wheels, right? So how is possible to combine all meshes except wheels?

Given the many parts of the model you have chosen, my recommendation would be to import it into Blender (or 3ds Max or Maya), export the wheels separately, merge the rest and export it as one mesh.

Yea so it is always step back to Blender? I don’t say that it is bad idea, but it is not possible to do it in Unreal Engine?

Sure, you can use Actors Merging, but it won’t be easy. Anyway, give it a try.

Thank you very much

as i know, if you can’t see the model after import and really sure all step no problem fro import fbx model, just click “z” after import, because sometime fbx model or other model format are very small size.
So will make feel like no thing inside.

Maybe you can try use this site : model 3ds , models fbx , model obj , model max

This website 3d models size almost is standard size, so easy for you to import.
