Transparent Material Shadow

I’ve tried to massage the material of the transparent outer shell of the marble, but all I get is the shadow of the inner piece, which looks odd, when it moves about, like some sort of squid is inside.

Is there a way to force the shadow of the Glass a bit darker, and/or the “Squid” a bit lighter ?

I tried massaging the Translucent Shadow Density scale from 0 - 1, and it changes nothing in the viewport.

In the documentation it says:

Limitations: Static shadowing from
stationary and static lights is
currently not handled for lit
translucency. However, dynamic shadows
from stationary lights is supported.

Ok, it’s a dynamic object, and all lights are stationary. So what do you turn on for it to work ?

Hey DCrosby -

Translucent Objects like your glass marble cannot render shadows like you are wanting. Here is a work around which will allow you to have some transparency with shadows it is playing around with the render rate and a panner. It will create some artifacting but depending on how close your camera gets it could work.
