[FeedBack] Content Browser - hard to filter and search for specific types

I’d like to scan the game project for assets of a specific type (for example - all sound related assets).

As seen in the screenshot, i have selected the “Sounds” category in Filters:

This however, does not show all assets of a particular type. In order to see those, i have to drill-down into specific folders to see whether they contain the filtered assets.

This makes it hard to look for “all assets of a particular type or types”.

Is there a better way to filter assets? or is this valid feedback? can this be improved?

Hi Lior,

Thank you for your feedback. This issue has been resolved in a internal build we have and in future releases of Rocket the issue will not be present.

Cheers

Dear Lior,

The solution to this is to enter a single space in your search bar (by pressing spacebar once)

that will accomplish the desired effect of showing all assets of a particular type

I find the need to do this strange, and I consider it a defect

but this is the current workaround

single space? well, it works  but that’s very strange… how did you find this workaround…

I was desperately trying to figure out a solution and stumbled upon the single-space solution

If you go into Edit on the toolbar Editor Preferences->Preferences then to Content Browser there is an option to turn off Display Folders.

This works but you then lose the benefit of hierarchical organization with folders. The only time it interferes is when you try to filter for specific assets. Unity for example does exactly this - showing both a tree of folders while still allowing to filter according to specific asset names/types.

The folders can be accessed on the sources panel (top left), I typically have the larger content browser with the heirarchy and the small one without. I use the smaller one for selecting to add to things but sometimes I need the other one depending on which screen I need to drag-to-from.

Are there 2 content browsers?

Theres 4, Window->Content Browser on the main toolbar.
