Animations - No Root Motion

Hi All

Im currently playing with some animation packs I picked up from Motus Digital (https://mocaponline.com/) BUT! sadly no tutorials or controllers come with the packs.

So I’ve found a video (UE4 Locomotion Animation System - Part 1 - YouTube) I want to recreate using no root motion, and I understand the premise of the animation but I need some help with the following things:

  • What does Distance Matching mean and how is this implemented into the turning of the character ?
  • How do you implement the start walk/Stop walk animations into a cycle ?
  • How to achieve the leaning walk/run in a blend space?

If anyone could help with this, I’d be truly grateful.

wouldnt be able to answer these without seeing the blueprints. if you want to remove the root motion you can uncheck root motion in the details panel animatino sequence

Hi Newest, I did follow this tutorial prior to seeing this video but he doesn’t seem to use root motion where as Kubold’s animation set does…
