Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Importing a single animation with morph targets

Greetings y'all,

I'm having trouble getting the morph targets on my character working. (using them as facial animations.) When I import the skeleton with the first animations I check the box that says "use morph targets." and everything works, but when I attempt to add another animation to the existing skeleton, I don't have the "use morph targets" option and the animation imports just fine, but doesn't have any Morph animations. I don't even get an error message.

I've been looking this up all day now and have found many problems similar to mine, but they haven't been close enough. If anyone could help, I'm all ears!

many thanks.

i use maya ,actullay i had similar kind of issue somedays ago and after some hit n trials i came to find out that you can't make morph targets work themselves automatically with the animation in ue4 as they do in 3d package. They just get imported as anim curves and a lot of tweaking needs to be done to make them work fine

Well, that's the problem, my animations work fine when I import them along with the skeleton. It's just when I attempt to import an additional animation by itself and assign it to the previously created skeleton that they don't work. I don't want to have to keep re importing the skeleton every time I do a new animation.

Make sure you are importing exactly same set of bones Everytime from blender because it looks like problem is in blender itself during creation of fbx

My deepest apologies for not contacting you sooner. The problem was that in order to import an animation with morph targets there needed to be a mesh... so whenever I need to import a new animation I just import a mesh along with it; later I can delete the extra meshes in engine.

Thank you so much for offering your assistance.

The problem is that in order to import an animation with morph targets there needs to be a mesh. If having the same problem just import an other skeletal mesh, check the "import morph targets" box and then just delete the extra mesh in the editor.
