I edited a basic door blueprint and now every time I try and save the editor crashes 100% of the time. I’ve tried deleting all the BP assets from the level however it still crashes on save. I’ve deleted everything in the BP and tried to compile it but the editor crashes. I can’t delete the BP from my project as there is still traces of it in the level causing it to crash on save.
Repro Steps:
Open level
file - save.
Crash
Option 2
Open level
Delete blue print
crash
Option 3
Open level
delete contents of BP
compil… crash
Option 4
delete BP from windows directory
Open level
file save
crash
I know it’s this BP because I can edit and compile others just fine. It was since I edited this particular BP that something’s gone wrong.
This happens 100% of the time.
System Specs: Windows 7 Home 64-Bit, Core i7 3930 3.2GHz, 32Gig ram, Single Geforce GTX 580 1 Gig Ram, Direct X 11
EDIT:
I rebuilt the scene from scratch without the BP and things worked. THen I added Foliage with custom meshes. Once I saved the scene crashed. I then opened up the original project and deleted the foliage however the scene still crashed when saving.
I’m guessing it’s a combination of that particular BP and the foliage. The BP and foliage had nothing to do with one another.
Could you also post a link to download the blueprint in question? If you aren’t comfortable posting it here, please feel free to Private Message me the link on the forums.
I haven’t been able to reproduce your issue with just the Door Parent, could you also link us to the Child Blueprints as well? We do have an issue logged where changing the parent of a child blueprint can cause a crash, but not on save. The crash is usually immediate.
My apologies for the late reply. Been really busy. I’ve attached my Dxdiag and the dump file. As far as child blueprint goes, there wasn’t one in the blueprint. Unless you see something I don’t. I can’t actually open it for fear of losing more data. If you see a child just let me know and I’ll send it over.
I did get your blueprint working in a new project. The only difference should be that I am using place holder meshes for the doors. It seems to work fine with and without foliage placed in the level.
In the edit above you said you rebuilt the scene from scratch. Did you rebuild it in an entirely new project?
Okay, If you’d like me to send the meshes I can do that. If you’d like me to send the entire project I can do that aswell.
As for the rebuild. I just made a new map in the same project and copy pasted everything but the door blueprint across and it all worked fine/didn’t crash on save. As I mentioned above, I then proceeded to add foliage and the crash on save returned.
We haven’t heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as Resolved for tracking purposes. If you’re still experiencing this issue, please link me to your a download of your project so that we can continue troubleshooting.
