[Question] Landscape Layer Blend Node crash / When is the new beta version coming out ?

Hi,

I am trying to make a game which heavily relies on terrain creation and I just can’t seem to use Layer blends as it crashes Rocket editor as soon as I try to save my material after creating such node. Apparently its a known bug and has been fixed in the internal build.

I will be using hand painted height maps for terrain creation. And I need to blend between different textures both depending on terrain normals and placement of buildings/units etc. Also I will be updating terrain textures on the fly depending on certain condition changes in the game. Is there a workaround for achieving what I want or I am just out of luck and I need to wait for the next beta release which hopefully fixes it ?

The LandscapeLayerBlend node crash is a known issue which was already reported here. Epic is aware of it. As a workaround you can use LandscapeLayerWeight node.

Satheesh is correct, and we apologize for the inconvenience this crash may cause. The issue has been fixed internally, but the fix will not be available in Rocket until the next release. I cannot give a definite timeframe at this moment for when the next release will occur.
