UE 4.17.2 not culling foliage

So i created a new level, created a small terrain, placed one tree(ScotsPine_01 from kite demo) with the foliage tool.
I set the max culling distance to 100 units, but as you can see the tree is still visible.

I hope that im doing something wrong

happens with 4.18.3 too, but i think this is something to do with kite demo assets, because if i try with a cube for example it works.
