r.mobile.tonemapperfilm doesn't work on a low-end mobile device

So far I’ve been using 4.17.2.
Right after 4.19.0 got released I ran some tests and faced some unexpected results.

First of all, everything looks different. Materials glow less and their opacity doesn’t look right, as if someone messed up clip value.

Also, “r.mobile.tonemapperfilm 1” command seems to have an issue. Everything goes dark when I type in the line on mobile device(Samsung Galaxy S4). Nothing’s rendered. If I set r.mobile.tonemapperfilm to 0, then everything comes back on the screen.

Tested in a clean, new project.
Target platform “Mobile” and “Maximum Quality”.
No other rendering option changed.

Does anyone know what’s going on?

I just created a new default level and launched it on Galaxy S4. Even though I didn’t change any setting or add anything to the level, “r.mobile.tonemapperfilm 1” messes up the rendering.

Ran another test on Galaxy S7. Nothing wrong with this one. Seems like the problem occurs only on a low-end mobile device. Although I’m not entirely certain since I don’t have any other type of device to test on.

And I don’t know if this is relevant to the issue but when I open the clean project on the device for the first time after the launch is complete, the screen flickers and/or renders broken pixels with random colors just like glitches in old nintendo games, which I have never, ever experienced before.

Well, it wasn’t flickering. Just a particle moving right in front of a camera. Which is still weird as I didn’t set the camera that way and like I mentioned above this happens only on the first running.

Bump… Anyone?

Bump. Anybody? I could really use some help.

Bump. Still having the same problem on 4.19.1.

Bump. Not fixed on 4.19.2 either.

I’ve tested with Galaxy S5 on versions 4.20.3 and 4.21.2 and the problem still persists. I think that the old phones will not support this feature even in newer versions of UE

I had given up on this issue… good to know it’s not just us.
Anyways, I do agree that it seems EPIC dropped support for the old mobile devices. But just so you know, they might be working on the issue. When I tested this for the first time on 4.18 it didn’t work(absolutely sure), but it does now.
