Is it possible to transfer a retarget ref pose between two very similar skeletons?

Hi, I’m a character modeler/rigger and we have some custom characters that are in development and occasionally the skeletons are slightly adjusted (bone orientation and position). It seems like it should be possible to load a previously saved retarget reference pose onto a different but very similar skeleton and save a great deal of manual labor, but I can’t get this to work. Is it possible? If not, would you make it possible because that would be hella useful. Thanks.

Answering my own question, we figured out a way to do this: don’t create your retarget reference poses in the skeleton editor/Manage Retargeting UI, but instead, create them in a Pose Asset. This allows the pose to simply be retargeted like any animation/pose, and loaded onto a similar skeleton in the Manage Retargeting UI. This also allows you to separate the retarget ref pose from that particular skeleton asset and to maintain multiple ref poses (e.g. easily switch between A-pose and T-pose refs, or share an authoritative master ref between multiple animators).

It would be great if this was more intuitive, e.g. if you could save the current regargeting ref pose (I’m pretty sure you cannot). Also, the ‘Insert Pose’ menu item is really easy to miss, buried 3 levels down a single menu, it’d be nice if it was more prominent and maybe in multiple places on the UI. Thanks!

Thank you! That’s exactly what I need!
