What lights to use when

Hi!

I think your understanding is wrong: static lighting is not GARBAGE but the BEST/REALISTIC looking lighting in Unreal!! The only one that gives you proper G.I.!
Ceiling lights: static lights + build your lights.
Led strip: maybe an emissive material + include the emissive in your light bake + build your lights.

Well if you put lights in your scene it won’t turn it straight away into a realistic environment! You have to tune your settings for that…
…but as I’ve said, right now this gives you the best/realistic looking results and the only way to get realistic GI!

Hi. So this is not for a specific Game right now but i have some questions about lights. First of all let’s say i want a bunch of seperate lights in one place or in one room. What light’s and settings should i use to make it look the best while not sacrificing performance. Because what i understand now is that static look like garbage, you can only gave 4 stationary lights overlap and that includes the directional light i might use and dynamic lights just have too much of a cost to performance to use in any good way. That is what i understand. So let’s say i would want to either have a lot of ceiling lights in a room or maybe i would need to simulate something that looks like an LED strip. How would i go about doing that? Thanks!

Mhhh. Very interesting. In some level i have made before my static lights didn’t look propper and then i found someone sho said that they are basicaly the worst. Thank you!
