Engine runs at a crawl after VR preview

Hey everyone! Here’s a weird issue that I can’t find anyone else having.

I’ll be working on my VR game - everything is running fine, the engine is running quickly. Easily over 100fps in the 3d viewport.

Then I’ll run a VR preview - the preview runs fine - no framerate issues.

But then, as soon as I end the VR preview, using the engine runs at a complete crawl. Less than 10fps for navigating the 3d viewport and the blueprint graphs.

I have to close and restart the entire engine to get editor performance back up, and it’s getting frustrating having to restart the engine every time I want to preview my game.

I can simulate without issue, and I can play in editor without issue, but as soon as I do a VR preview, the issue happens.

This happens on both Vive and Oculus

This is NOT project specific - it happens on new projects as well as my current project. It’s been happening for a few engine versions as well.

I’m working on a machine with an i7-5820k and a gtx980

Any ideas for what could be causing this or settings I could change to fix it? Or is there anywhere I can look to see logs?
