Low FPS in editor on high-end PC

Hello!

I have a very strange problem, I have low fps in editor on a high end PC. But the thing is, if I tab out for about 5 sec and then back into the unreal engine I have stable 120FPS, until I like adjust a static mesh or change in the lighting settings for example.

Usually when I wanna show my work to friends, I do this workaround (Press play, tab out 5sec and then in) and can go around in my world with 120fps… but I want 120 stable fps all the time, not just wanna do this workaround so I can show off my work in good fps. I wanna be in the editor and have over atleast 60FPS. I’ve been editing in 20-40FPS for 2 months now.

Specs:

CPU: 8700k 3.7ghz

GPU: 1080ti

RAM: 16GB DDR4 3000Mhz

Other:

M2 SSD 500GB

And yes, I’ve tried to reinstall and disable Nvidia Shadowplay overlay.

Did you ever find out the culprit?

I have almost the exact same build, but with 32 gb of ram and am getting this same issue – since around 4.12 and I have found no answer to it. If anyone has that’d be awesome, it’s just so weird how alt tabbing makes it FASTER.

Do you have multiple monitors by chance? Having multiple does lower FPS in my experience

Hey All,

Try checking to see if the Nvidia in-game overlay is enabled. This has been known to cause FPS issues with the Editor. You can find the settings for it in the GeForce experience application.
