Migrating UE3 content to UE4

There is tutorial https://rocket.unrealengine.com/docs/ue4/INT/GettingStarted/LevelEditing/MigratingUE3Maps/index.html but it seems to be broken. What version of UE4 it is based on? And/or what other ways to import maps and packages from UE3. We need to import a lot of materials (graphs). Any hints how to do it? Static meshes we can do by fbx (anyway no batch import) and scene recreation by reparsing clipboard data of StaticMeshActors. But materials seems to be bigger pain. Any suggestions?
Thanks Seb

Oh wow, that info is over a year old. I’m not surprised it is broken. I’m not sure how to migrate content currently, or if it is even possible at this point - someone else will have to answer that. If it is still possible, I will look into updating the documentation as well.

That information is rather old and unreliable. And unfortunately it’s not quite possible to move the materials striaght over. I went ahead and put this into our database for consideration.

I can not express how much I would like / need this. I am currently looking at the feasibility of porting a game from UE3 to UE4 and so far its not looking like its going to be very easy. I know that I would need to completely re-do all of the materials but it would be a huge time saver if I could atleast port the meshes and the levels. Do you guys have any sort of time priority for this task?

Hi Samuel,

Justin is currently out of the office, so I looked into the issue. It is still active, but requires a lot of our resources. This is a task that will take effort and serious testing before release, so we do not have a specific ETA. Until then, if you are in need of additional assistance with this problem, we will be happy to further assist to the best of our abilities.

Thanks,

Alexander
